John is a skilled education leader who’s provided services to students and communities across the country with a focus on bringing equity to historically underserved areas. As a nonprofit leader he worked to bridge the STEM opportunity gap in partnership with higher education institutions including University of Michigan, Morehouse College, and others. He specializes in program development, implementation, and assessment and has designed processes and tools for Nevada’s Department of Education, Teach For America, start-up companies, and other organizations. John is an experienced facilitator trained in Design Thinking and applies DEI strategies through content, virtual/in-person sessions, learning opportunities, and coaching. Previously John consulted Oklahoma Department of Education in implementing a statewide performance management process, and he co-led the design and implementation of a student academic data system and a talent management data system for district-wide use in Memphis. John is also a former classroom teacher in Detroit, MI, and Houston, TX.
John currently resides in his hometown of Detroit and holds his Master of Arts in Education from University of St. Thomas-Houston and Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and Sociology from University of Michigan.
